Snowshoeing is a great way to explore the trails in Fernie!

No special skills are required – just strap a pair of snowshoes on your boots and go for a walk!

Reach out to our Rental Shop to reserve your snowshoes. Guided tours are also available! Let one of our knowledgeable local guides take you on a late afternoon or early evening loop along Fernie Alpine Resort’s serene snowshoe trails, or join a group tour to take in breathtaking views of the Lizard Range.

Winter fat bikes are the newest way to explore Fernie in the winter! A “fat bike” is a version of a mountain bike, with wide tires which provide extra traction and stability in the snow. Fernie Alpine Resort now offers groomed trails, rental bikes, and programs for winter fat biking.

Silk/Manchuria Trails & Scandia Loop (nordic / multi-purpose trails): Approximately 10.9 km of widely groomed trails, that are also track set for classic cross country skiing. The trailhead is accessed by Parking Lot #4.

Scott fat bikes are available to rent. You can also enjoy evening fat biking tours or join a guided group tour, all led by our professional staff.

Come and discover the peace and tranquillity of our cross-country ski trails at Fernie Alpine Resort! Our trails are groomed and track-set, so they are great for classic and skate skiing. The trails are open and free for the public to use throughout the winter season (December – April, conditions permitting).

Cross-country ski rentals are available.

Also, experience the peaceful beauty of our Nordic trail system with a guided tour on Nordic Sundays. This package includes both a guided cross-country ski tour and rental equipment.

The Rail Park at Fernie Alpine Resort is the place to be!

Whether you’re progressing through a park for the first time, charging down the Ski Cross course or perfecting your rail game, this is one of the best spots on the Resort to check out. With over 25 features on a single run, there is a huge variety for all skill levels and very little space for boredom. Conveniently placed under the Deer Chair, it’s a great place to rip spring slush laps or spend all day progressing your skills.

Our kids’ specific instructors will focus on fun, safety, and building skills to instill a passion for skiing and increase their confidence on the mountain. Our dedicated indoor Griz Kids team will make your kids holiday with fun activities galore.
