The main difference between Slalom, GS and Super G is the course layout (how 'turn-y' the course is, based on how far apart the gates are). Slalom is the "tightest" and the gates get further apart and the speeds increase in a GS and even more so in a Super G.
SLALOM
* Average 40-50 second course
* Offers more gates, more turns, (and for many) more fun than the other disciplines.
* Speeds are slower but there is definitely more happening with more turns to be made between the start and the finish.
* Two run, combined time format.
* The course is reset between run 1 and run 2.
GS (GIANT SLALOM)
* Average 50-60 second course
* Offers moderate spacing between the gates.
* The most appealing style of racing for those who have never done it before - and still really fun for those who have.
* Two run, combined time format for results.
* The course is reset between run 1 and run 2.
SUPER G
* Average 50-60 second course
* Offers moderate spacing between the gates.
* The highest speed race.
* Two run, Best of format for results. Second run is optional and only if conditions allow
* No reset.
